Successful implementation of MGNREGA seriously depends on the establishment and operationalization of a proper computer based Management Information System (MIS) that interconnects all the Gram Panchayats, Blocks, Districts, States and the Union Ministry through an ICT network.

Taking forward the onus of crafting the efficient implementation of the MGNREGS, MGNREGASoft has been hosted on the MGNREGA portal (http://nrega.nic.in) to provide single point access to all stakeholders and capture all information, beginning with the registration of the workers. This public domain database leads to effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme, and thus ensures transparency and credibility.

MGNREGA MIS provides information to citizens in compliance with the Right to Information (RTI) Act. 10.9 Crore Job Cards and over 3.9 Crore Muster Rolls have been made available on the MIS. Other ongoing ICT projects have used smart cards / hand held devices / low-cost ATMs as ICT tools to ensure rights and entitlements of people.

To further enforce a rights-based framework, MGNREGA is working with the best available State-of-Art Technologies to enable all transactions in real time
